I started the curing process after I dried the buds for about 8 full days, and now they have been curing for about 2 weeks. I am not sure how often I should open the jars as they feel dry to touch but the humidifiers inside the mason jars read humidity levels at 85%, which I believe can breed mold.

I feel that if I open the jars to often, the buds will become too dry but if I keep them closed, the humidity shoots up to 85%, which could breed mold. How often and long do you keep the jars open for and what is the target humidity?

I never have this issue 2 weeks into the curing but I recommend you leave them open for 15 minutes everyday until you can have a consistent humidity around 65%. Don’t worry about the dryness because the stems can hold onto moisture for a long time that will rejuvenate the bud with moisture over time.
